Youth Sailing at Racine Yacht Club
Racine Yacht Club sailing camp is open to all youth ages 7-1 8 years old; parents do not need to be a member of the Yacht Club. Morning and afternoon camps are open to the beginner, and intermediate/racing sailor. No prior sailing knowledge is necessary.
During camp youth will be taught to sail in a safe, fun environment by certified sailing instructors. Youth will learn about the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math behind sailing. STE M is applied through sailing fundamentals-learning to maneuver a boat in all points of sail, nautical terminology, knot tying, basic dingy rigging, understanding how pulleys and levers work on a boat, and how wind affect the sails.
Sailing camp is an opportunity to explore, discover, and develop teamwork skills as the youth gain confidence and make new friends.
